Canadiens Reach Finals

The Belle River Canadiens defeated the Mooretown Flags last night in Belle River 5-4, to clinch the series 4 games to 1. It was another close game, with the Flags putting on a strong push with their goalie pulled late in the third. But the Canadiens held them off to secure the victory and reach their third straight Great Lakes Junior C. Finals.

Helping the Canadiens to their victory was Blake Jones who had a goal and two assists, Scott Chauvin had two goals, Dylan Impens had two assists, and Mike Ditty and Richard Dunning had a goal each. The Canadiens continued their success with their special teams last night. They went 1 for 2 on the powerplay, and killed off 3 of 4 Mooretown powerplays.

For the next series the Canadiens will look to their special teams for success. They have the second ranked powerplay in the league at 22.39%, and the second ranked penalty kill at 93.65%.

The Canadiens now wait to face the winner of the Dresden/Essex series. Essex currently leads the series 3-2. The next game in this series is Friday night in Dresden, you can follow the game here: Pointstreak.
