Canadiens Reach Finals
The Belle River Canadiens defeated the Mooretown Flags last night in Belle River 5-4, to clinch the series 4 games to 1. It was another close game, with the Flags putting on a strong push with their goalie pulled late in the third. But the Canadiens held them off to secure the victory and reach their third straight Great Lakes Junior C. Finals.
Helping the Canadiens to their victory was Blake Jones who had a goal and two assists, Scott Chauvin had two goals, Dylan Impens had two assists, and Mike Ditty and Richard Dunning had a goal each. The Canadiens continued their success with their special teams last night. They went 1 for 2 on the powerplay, and killed off 3 of 4 Mooretown powerplays.
For the next series the Canadiens will look to their special teams for success. They have the second ranked powerplay in the league at 22.39%, and the second ranked penalty kill at 93.65%.
The Canadiens now wait to face the winner of the Dresden/Essex series. Essex currently leads the series 3-2. The next game in this series is Friday night in Dresden, you can follow the game here: Pointstreak.

Game 4
Game 4 was the second straight game in Mooretown that went into overtime. However, Belle River did not come out on top in this game. The Canadiens lost 4-3. The Canadiens were down 2 goals early in the first but fought their way back and eventually were leading 3-2 to start the third period. But the Flags tied the game early in the third on a powerplay. The game stayed tied until 1:26 into the overtime period, when Mooretown ended the game.
The Canadiens struggled on the powerplay again at the Mooretwon arena going 0-3. The Canadiens are 0-6 on the road and 5-14 at home. Game 5 is tonight in Belle River at 8:00pm. The Canadiens are looking to move on to the Great Lakes Finals for the third straight year, and with a win tonight they would face either Essex or Dresden, whose series is tied 2-2.

Game 3 vs. Mooretown
The Belle River Canadiens took a 3-0 series lead against the Mooretwon Flags winning game 3 last night in Belle River 10-3. The Canadiens took control of the game when they were given a 5 minute powerplay when they were already up 3-1 in the game. They added 3 powerplay goals in under a minute to take a 6-1 lead.
Mike Ditty had a 6 point night including 4 goals. Chris DiNatale had 4 points, Blake Jones, Derek Haskell, Nik Dobrich all had 2 points as well.
Game 4 is tonight in Mooretwon at 7:30.

Game 2 vs. Mooretown
Belle River won game 2 of the series last night in overtime in Mooretown. The Canadiens jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period only to see the Flags come back and eventually tie the game with under five minutes left in the third. The Canadiens can thank Zak Olvin who made 30 saves for the win. He played a tremendous game, making many key saves to keep the Canadiens in the game. Cole Chevalier had a natural hat-trick for the Canadiens and played a great defensive game. Branden Larocque, and Jason Koumaris added 3 assists each in last nights game.
Chris DiNatle had a strong fore check on the winning goal, when he made a pass in the corner to Scott Chauvin. Chauvin then found Nik Dobrich in the slot where he "fired" a shot five-hole for the winning goal just 40 seconds into overtime.

Game 1 of Great Lakes Semi Finals
The Canadiens hosted the Mooretwon Flags in game 1 on Sunday in Belle River. The Canadiens came out on top winning 3-2. The Canadiens started off the game slow, giving up 14 shots but Branden Larocque gave Belle River a 1-0 lead late in the first. However, Mooretown answered quickly and the first period ended with a 1-1 tie. The Canadiens had a strong second period firing 19 shots on goal but only came away with a 2-1 lead after two periods. Chris DiNatale scored his 7th goal of the playoffs on a nice feed on a 2-0 from Scott Chauvin. The Canadiens Scott Chauvin added an early insurance goal in the third 1:03 into the period, when he connected on a one timer from Nik Dobrich. The Flags made it 3-2 in the third but Belle River held off a late push to come away with the victory.
The Canadiens penalty kill was solid again killing off five powerplays, while their powerplay went 1 for 8. The Canadiens will travel to Mooretown on Wednesday for game 2.
